Last updated: draft. These terms are a placeholder pending final legal review.
Helpa operates an online marketplace ("the Platform") that connects individuals ("Customers") with independent local service providers ("Helpas") who offer help with everyday, bureaucratic and errand-based tasks across the European Union.
Helpa is not a party to the agreement between a Customer and a Helpa. Helpa does not provide the underlying services itself, does not employ Helpas, and is not responsible for the performance or outcome of any task.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract to use the Platform. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity on your account.
Customers post tasks and agree a scope and price with a Helpa through the Platform. Once a booking is confirmed, the Customer and the Helpa enter into a direct contract for the task on the terms they agree, subject to these Terms.
Payments on the Platform are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited ("Stripe"). By using Helpa you also agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe Services Agreement.
Customer funds are authorised at booking and held by Stripe. Funds are released to the Helpa after the task is marked complete by the Customer, less Helpa's service fee. Refunds and dispute handling follow the process described on the Platform and Stripe's rules.
Helpas are required to submit a government-issued identity document and, where applicable, a selfie for review. Successful verification does not constitute a background check or a guarantee about a Helpa's conduct, skills or suitability for a particular task.
Helpa charges a service fee on completed bookings, disclosed at the time of booking. Fees may change from time to time; changes apply only to future bookings.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Helpa provides the Platform on an "as is" basis and disclaims all warranties. Helpa is not liable for the acts or omissions of Customers or Helpas, for any task performed off-Platform, or for indirect, incidental or consequential losses.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence and for fraud.
Helpa may suspend or terminate access to the Platform if these Terms are breached, if required by law, or to protect the safety of the community.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights under the law of the country in which the Customer resides.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated in advance where required by law.
